ME

Welcome to my website. I am a 31 year-old journalist, communications director and public speaker based in the Middle East.

I am currently the communications director for Evoke International in Dubai working on global strategic communications campaigns for governments, NGOs and luxury brands. Most recently I held the position of senior editor at Buro 24/7 Middle East, the deputy editor of Emirates Woman and was an associate editor of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia in Dubai.

Starting off as a freelance journalist in London after completing my MA in Magazine Journalism at City University, London, I’ve written for Marie Claire UK, The London Evening Standard, The Telegraph, The Guardian and BuzzFeed UK while writing millennial blog posts on The Huffington Post UK. In 2014 I was shortlisted for the PPA’s Most Promising Postgraduate Journalist Award for my investigative feature on Female Genital Mutilation.

In my magazine positions I have managed editorial production, written and commissioned features, worked with art directors on redesigns and also taken on an ambassadorial role for the various brands at events.

I am also a certified crisis counsellor for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse and volunteered for Shamsaha in Bahrain – the Middle East's first and only crisis response program. In this role I was on hospital and hotline duty several times a month and involved in public engagement through community outreach by giving culturally sensitive talks on reversing gender stereotypes, feminism, healthy relationships and myths surrounding rape to audiences ranging from ministers to school students. I remain a training consultant for Shamsaha via online workshops

Other work includes producing podcasts for Finyal Media including Creating Opportunities with Emirates NBD and Millennial Mirrors, as well as writing for publications like Cosmopolitan Middle East, livehealthymag.com and Destination of the World News.
